Addiction forms gradually and typically begins with misuse, moves toward abuse and resulting in addiction.
⢠Misuse
To minimize emotional or physical pain, an individual might experiment with substances or alcohol. Alternatively, one may make use of substances or alcohol in a social setting, and decide to try them again just to have a good time. Relieved of emotions of unpleasantness, the person will continue to use substances or alcohol again, and again, and so on.
⢠Abuse
Before long the person boosts use to maintain the desired effects of bliss and forgetting reality. The original problems remain unresolved and/or unattended. If the individual didn't have issues at the start of use, issues will soon be developed following the use. Continuous attempts to meet the physical body's cravings for drugs or alcohol emerge as the person's all new reality.
⢠Addiction
Tremendous effort and time is spent acquiring the alcohol or drugs. Once the addict or alcoholic is totally entrenched in the cycle of addiction, the health, economic, emotional and social penalties appear. The addict may simply feel that they have been unlucky, or blame the consequences on other people rather than their addiction.
